What is Lightning Roulette?

Launched back in 2018 Lightning Roulette is one of Evolution’s most popular live casino game shows to date, this revolutionary game combines the excitement of live roulette with RNG gameplay as random multipliers between 50x and 500x are thrown into the game every spin.

Set in a beautifully designed Art Deco studio, much like its sister game Lightning Dice, Lightning Roulette is hosted by a talkative host that keeps players engaged in-between every single spin.

Despite all its intricacies, you should feel quite at home playing this game as you’ll find all the classic elements of a traditional roulette game here, the betting options remain the same, the wheel is your standard European style roulette wheel… The only major difference between Lightning Numbers.

How is Lightning Roulette played?

The core gameplay of Lightning Roulette is very similar to a normal game of European roulette you'd find in any casino around the world (or online).

Players are tasked with correctly predicting where a ball will land on a 37 segment roulette wheel by placing one or more bets on a roulette table, this table features corresponding numbers that are numbered 1 - 36 (and a single 0) and are coloured red or black.

Chips valued between 0.20 and 100 are placed on the table by individual players before the game round begins. After betting time has expired (15 seconds) the live game presenter will pull a lever and a 'Lightning Numbers' are randomly selected. These Lightning Numbers will see their value rise by up to 500x thanks to multipliers.

The wheel will then spin as it would in a normal game of European roulette, when the round has concluded and payouts have been made the betting clock will restart and players can place new bets once more.

What are Lightning Numbers?

Before every single spin of the wheel, the host will pull a lever that sees a random selection of numbers appear on the screen behind the host, these numbers are accompanied by a randomly generated multiplier up to 500x... These are your lightning numbers for that round!

You’ll be able to identify Lightning Numbers when a bolt hit the roulette table, lucky numbers will be illuminated by a gold light with their multiplier flashing over the number.

It should be noted that this game pays out different to other variants of roulette. Straight bets pay 30/1 whilst all other roulette bets such red or black, splits, corners and dozens pay the same as a standard game of roulette.

Lightning Roulette - Bet Types

Lightning Roulette is no different to standard European Roulette in the sense that players can make multiple types of bet other than Straight Up bets (Where the player places chips directly on any single number). Players can either make inside bets outside bets or neighbours, each of which are explained in detail below.

Inside Bets

Inside Bets are bets that can be made by placing a chip on the inner section of the roulette table, this includes standard Straight Up bets.

  • Split Bet - Players place a bet on the line between two numbers, covering 2 in total
  • Street Bet - Players place a bet at the end of a row of numbers, covering 3 in total
  • Corner Bet - Players place a bet in the corner of where 4 numbers meet, covering 4 in total
  • Line Bet - Players place a bet at the end of two rows on the intersection, covering 6 in total

Outside Bets

Outside Bets are bets that can be made by placing a chip on the outside of the roulette table on non-numbered boxes.

  • Column Bet - Players place a bet on a box marked 2 to 1, this sees their bet cover 12 numbers in that column (not including 0)
  • Dozen Bet - Players place a bet on one of the three boxes marked 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12, this sees their bet cover 12 numbers within that specific area
  • Red/Black -  Players place a bet on either red or black, covering 18 red or 18 black numbers (not including 0)
  • Even/Odd - Players place a bet on either Even or Odd, covering 18 even or 18 odd numbers (not including 0)
  • 1-18/19-36 - Players place a bet on either the first set of 18 numbers or the second set of 18 numbers (not including 0)

Neighbour Bets

Neighbour Bets are special bets that cover a selection of numbers on the roulette wheel, each bet covers a different set of numbers, offering different payouts.

  • Tiers du Cylindre - Players place a bet that covers 12 numbers including 27, 33 and the numbers that lie between them on the wheel
  • Orphelins a Cheval - Players place a bet that covers 8 numbers that are not covered by Voisins du Zero and Tiers du Cylindre on the wheel
  • Voisins du Zero - Players place a bet that covers 17 numbers that include 22, 25 and the numbers that lie between them on the wheel
  • Jeu Zero - Players place a bet that covers zero and 6 numbers close to zero on the roulette wheel
